Computers are great, but in a car, they’re the worst! And I’ve gotten to a stage in my life where if I can’t fix a car with a hammer, I don’t want it!

If something doesn't work and you can't fix it by hitting it with a hammer, I suggest getting rid of it.
That's kind of what I do.
This car that I have, my small Mercedes, it's great, it's comfortable, it doesn't squeak.
I really like it.
I just, I love it.
But it's so computerized and this is a guy that deals in computers.
I hate it because when something goes wrong, I can't hit it with a hammer to fix it.
Whereas this weekend, I actually traveled all the way to the other side of the country to pick up, I'll put something up here, to pick up some parts to rebuild my blazer.
So I can use that because, use that to be my main vehicle to travel in.
Once that's ready, then I'll be going to Spain and Portugal, possibly Greece and so on.
So I'll be going further afield.
But with that, I can hit it with a hammer, literally, and it will work.
It's like Lego and Meccano.
And while I was driving, it took like three hours to get there, three hours back.
While I was driving there, here's a picture of me driving there.
It got me thinking about people worrying about the shiny object syndrome, getting loads of tech that they have to play with just to get the basics done.
And, you know, a car is basics.
It's like, you know, from A to B effectively.
But nowadays they're so computerized.
It's like when you need to get it fixed, and sometimes you can't, but when you need to get it fixed, it costs so much money.
So, for instance, this Mercedes, I was in Portugal.
It was like 1500 euros to put a starter motor in it, which is crazy because they have to pull the engine out the way it's built, reset the computers and stuff.
Whereas in my truck, you can literally crawl under it, hit it with a hammer, kind of, but basically unbolt it, put a new one in, and that's done.
And the simplicity of like the old tech, the old style of building is kind of being lost because everyone wants to make an app that does something, but they don't think about the logistics of when something goes wrong, the logistics of, yeah, just make things simple.
So that was my weekend.
I borrowed a van.
I borrowed a trailer, went down, got my Blazer parts, wheels and lots of stuff, and I'll be rebuilding my truck, and yeah, hopefully you guys will be here for the journey.
I know some of you are interested in it, but I'm doing it because I love making videos, and I'll still be talking tech anyway.
I'll see you next time.
Have a great Monday.
I hope you had a great weekend.
See you next time.
Ciao.
