Help is available if we know what the issue is and how to resolve it together.
Unfortunately, it seems that some don’t know where things are, so it makes it really difficult to fix what needs to be done simply.

It's been a really busy week.
I've had seven Macs, MacBooks, iMacs, etc. in for pretty much the same issue.
It's not a thing that's going around with these, but I've had to reinstall the systems and etc., backup and so on.
On top of all the other stuff that I've been doing, by the way.
It's been really busy and it still is.
I mean, it's Thursday.
And the issue that I've come to experience with actually all of them, without exception, is the clients don't actually know where their data is.
And that kind of boggles my mind.
If you have an office and you have a bunch of paperwork that's really important to your business or to you personally, because it's kind of half and half.
Would you not know where your passport is, for instance, where your driving license is, where your agreement for your house is, etc., etc.?
Things for your home that you would usually put in folders.
Having a Mac isn't, having a computer, not just a Mac, isn't any different.
So I'm completely baffled by why they didn't know where their data was, whether it was on the iCloud or Dropbox or et cetera, et cetera, whether it was on an external hard drive.
I had one client that didn't understand where her backups were.
She had loads of 2 1⁄2-inch hard drives with lots of different things.
It's just I don't get it.
Am I kind of not explaining things correctly to you guys out there?
Are you not?
It completely baffles me.
So I've had seven.
I've got three left that I've got to do.
The four that's gone back, some of them have actually lost data because they don't understand where their data was.
They thought it was on the computer.
Thought it was on the computer, but it wasn't.
I've got a mirror of their drive, so we checked everything.
But the other issue is if you don't know where your files are, how are you working?
But how can you put your stuff back?
I'm still completely amazed how people don't understand how important your computer is for you, your data, your phone.
All your data is so important nowadays because everyone needs a computer.
Everyone uses a computer.
Not necessarily needs, but everyone uses a computer.
So when things go wrong on your computer, you need to get it fixed.
It's slow, it's broken, the keys are this, or whatever it is.
You need to understand where your data is.
Now, it's an easy fix.
It's such a simple, easy fix.
There are several fixes, but the main thing is put it into the cloud.
Put it into a really, really secure cloud.
Use iCloud.
Use G Suite if you really want to, Google. iCloud is the best because it's Mac related and it just works.
Everything is there.
So some of these clients, they had some data in the cloud.
Some things were switched off on their phone.
Some things were just on their Mac.
I had to kind of collate everything and get it together.
Now, yeah, I've done this for a long time.
I know this stuff, but it still takes time to understand where everything is, especially if you can't answer specific questions like actually simple questions.
Where's your data?
What's your password?
Do you have different passwords?
Do you have two-factor authentication?
There are so many parts to it, and it's not because I'm a techie and I know it and you're a digibeta, which is what they say in Holland.
It's not that.
Just because it's a computer doesn't, shouldn't make you not walk.
Do you understand what I mean?
It's like it's a computer.
No, it's a computer.
It's like a kettle in your kitchen.
It's like a washing machine in your bathroom, wherever you have it.
You should know how these things work.
You can't just use a computer and go, it goes wrong.
I don't know how to fix it.
Yeah, I can fix it for you, absolutely can fix it for you.
But you've got to give me some information it's like what I usually say is...
If you go to the doctor if you go to the doctor and say doctor my leg hurts...
Now you you would say something hurts with doctor say where I don't know something hurts somewhere how does that help the doctor fix the issue for you!
This isn't a Friday Fury episode, this is just me kind of thinking out loud and trying to get through to you that you have to know where your data is.
You have to know where your passwords are.
You have to understand how to protect yourself with two-factor authentication.
You have to know these things because if you don't and something goes wrong you've basically lost a lot of stuff.
So you know everyone hates paying insurance but the insurance for you is to listen to people like me that give this information out for free.
So you can understand it that's the insurance there's no money involved it's just a bit of your time to understand these things. Spend some time to understand it.
Anyway that's my rant over for today.
Have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow.
If you need any help let me know.
Bye.
