Basecamp’s simplicity often confuses those who come from other apps. It confused me years ago. But once you understand the flow, you will never use anything else.

Earlier today I posted a screenshot of my base camp and the structure of it is exactly the same
00:00 --> 00:06
structure that I use for everything for my filing for my things for my apple notes and the three
00:06 --> 00:14
sections are actually quite simple it's work which is client work stuff that I'm doing for clients
00:14 --> 00:21
business which is obvious all my business stuff are in there my crm is in there etc
00:21 --> 00:26
and personal ie personal projects now I did use things for my projects and I do use apple notes
00:27 --> 00:37
for everything so there I won't be moving anything over but I found things not to be perfect for the
00:37 --> 00:47
the things that I want to do so personal project things like I want to do stuff with my truck I
00:47 --> 00:53
want to go on holiday and I need to get things done I think I'll probably move over to base camp
00:53 --> 01:01
the thing with base camp and this is kind of continuation from yesterday's video about
01:01 --> 01:07
you go and watch yesterday's video but people make things complicated software is complicated
01:07 --> 01:16
some software way more complicated than others now base camp being so incredibly simple
01:16 --> 01:24
and this is the issue I had with base camp before I used it years ago years ago was I never understood
01:24 --> 01:31
it I was like well this is a blank sheet of paper that doesn't do anything what's going where my
01:31 --> 01:35
tags where's this where's that and being a Tech Minimalist I realized that it was actually perfect
01:35 --> 01:41
because it doesn't confuse me as to what I'm doing when I open up that blank sheet of paper
01:41 --> 01:48
so I'm going to start using base camp more in my personal life kind of thing as because I
01:48 --> 01:57
use base camp for all my client work and client collaborations and stuff I don't use it as much
01:57 --> 02:02
as I should for my business side of things I kind of use apple notes for that and things was kind of
02:02 --> 02:10
my personal stuff so I will probably still use things for stupid little things I use reminders
02:10 --> 02:16
for hey Siri remind me to take the drinks out of the freezer I still use that for that but I think
02:16 --> 02:23
I want to use I'm going to use base camp for a lot more than just client work because it is so
02:23 --> 02:32
freaking simple like what what you can do with it and you shouldn't over complicate that and I've
02:32 --> 02:39
seen so many base camp I would call it dashboards their home pages and they're so complicated and
02:39 --> 02:46
they've got so many things going on and I basically go in there and simplify it just like you get rid
02:46 --> 02:52
of 90% of this stuff because you don't need it because those people have come from other apps
02:52 --> 02:58
like Monday and click up and notion so they've got that mentality of I need this for it to work and
02:58 --> 03:08
then they get frustrated because base camp doesn't do it but you don't need it again depending on the
03:08 --> 03:15
kind of work you do I work with individuals professionals and small businesses and it's
03:15 --> 03:21
absolutely ideal for them now there are companies that are much larger that still use base camp
03:21 --> 03:27
but generally they're in departments rather than the whole company depending on how how big that
03:27 --> 03:33
company is but yeah don't over complicate base camp and if you're interested in using base camp
03:33 --> 03:41
let me know and I can help you out but go and have a look at it and rethink the way you're
03:41 --> 03:47
working with your current tool and start again with base camp rather than bringing in all of
03:47 --> 03:54
that stuff that you used to do because you don't need to do it in base camp
03:54 --> 03:59
